Prevention and Health promotion

Main focus areas are to identify which models that are effective within individualised and population based strategies to prevent chronic diseases and premature death.

Several projects are ongoing:

• Inter99 – one of the world’s largest individualised intervention against unhealthy lifestyle to prevent chronic diseases
• Assessment of the effect of implementation of food fortification programmes (iodine and vitamin D)
• Exploring the impact of environmental factors in the neighbourhood on the health behaviour of citizens (e.g. food-environment and eating behaviour, public transport and commuting physical activity, recreational area and sedentarism) based on use of the Geographic Information System (GIS)
• Investigating how structural changes in neighbourhoods affect changes in behaviour combined with individualised counselling and information
• Continuous health profiles of the capital region creates a natural data material for measuring the effect of various changes in health behaviour.
