Receives graduates well

Petra Kryhl, a Swedish nurse at Hvidovre Hospital.
Petra Kryhl Petra Kryhl, nurse at Hvidovre Hospital

Educated at Malmø Høgskola, nurse Petra Kryhl has been employed at Hvidovre Hospital since 2009.

Why did you choose exactly this job and this specialty?

There were many job opportunities in Denmark when I finished my education. In principle, I could choose the specialty I wanted, as many departments were interested in hiring a Swedish nurse. I choose to work at Hvidovre because it is very easy to drive to and from Malmø. It only takes 35 minutes. I choose the endocrinological department because it is an interesting specialty with many different patient types.

What aspects would you point out as favourable at your hospital and department if you were to tell about it to a new colleague?

The hospital was very open to new employees, with good information and a good introduction course. I find the various departments of the hospital good at working together. Most of the people I meet do not object to me being Swedish. They think an international dimension at the hospital is fun.

It is positive that my department offers many possibilities for further education through various training courses. There is also a very good atmosphere with many good colleagues, who do not mind helping each other. As a graduate nurse, I have been granted trainee time, and I have learned a lot from my more experienced colleagues.
