Write a good job application

Start by reading job announcements carefully. You will find them in the column to the right, but please note that most are written in Danish. Choose the most interesting one.

Prepare carefully
If you have questions about the job announcement, you should contact the person mentioned in the announcement. Be well prepared before telephoning a place that is busy.

Before writing your application you should study carefully what kind of workplaces are the Capital Region and the hospital, department or unit where you apply for a job. This gives a good impression, and in this way you may also better assess whether the job and workplace suit you. You may read more about the region and the individual workplaces here.

Once you have decided that you and the job may be a good match, consider what is most important to tell in your application.

You application to the Capital Region of Denmark should provide an answer to the following questions:

• Why you apply for the job
• What reflections you have made about the job
• What professional competences you possess that are relevant for the job
• What personal qualities you possess that are relevant for the job

A personal application
Write as personal an application as possible which relates specifically to the job in question. Your application should document that you are qualified, motivated and have an understanding of the job. In Denmark great emphasis is placed on whether you as a person will fit well into the work environment. For this reason it is a good idea if you explain a bit about yourself as a person and what you find important in your cooperation with colleagues.

We recommend that you do not leave it to other people or a machine programme to translate your application, in case your written Danish is inadequate. Instead you should try to learn Danish and perhaps find someone to assist you in writing your application.
