A specialized hospital and emergency department
Hvidovre Hospital is in charge of the shared emergency department and a number of specialties for the entire area. This includes acute and elective surgery, clinical oncology, palliative treatment, and gynecological-obstetric and pediatric functions.

Hvidovre Hospital also admits medical patients from the local community, includes Brøndby, Hvidovre, Valby, and Vesterbro with a total of approx. 180,000 citizens.

Infectious-medical emergency preparedness function
The infectious-medical department of the hospital is in charge of the emergency preparedness function for the treatment and isolation of patients with infectious diseases in Eastern Denmark.
