Region Hovedstaden - Handicap

The Capital Region of Denmark - Handicap Department consists of 19 social services to children and adults with handicaps and developmental disturbances.

The Capital Region of Denmark Handicap Department operates a number of specialized services oriented towards the following target groups:

· Persons with physical and mental disabilities

· Persons with acquired brain injury

· Persons with speech disability, hearing disability, and other forms of communication disability

· Children and adolescents with pervasive development disorders

· Children and adolescents with a criminal behavior

The department can offer residential and daytime services to 935 citizens. In addition, 8,000 persons receive services from the Center for Eyesight and Communication and the Speech and Hearing Institute each year. The Capital Region of Denmark Handicap Department has more than 1,400 employees.
