Workplaces in the Capital Region

The Capital Region of Denmark is the largest of the five Danish regions. The region services approx. 1.6 million citizens and has approx. 38,000 employees.

The biggest health care system in Denmark
The Capital Region of Denmark operates the biggest system of health care in Denmark. The region operates 12 hospitals, provides mental health services (The Mental Health Services in the Capital Region of Denmark) and services for the disabled (The Capital Region of Denmark Handicap Department), and runs a hospital pharmacy (The Pharmacy of the Capital Region of Denmark).

Moreover, the region is in charge of regional development in Eastern Denmark.

District hospitals
The district hospitals are centrally located hospitals which gather the specialties for each planning district. They have shared emergency departments.

Local hospitals
The local hospitals treat medical patients and are in charge of planned surgery. In addition, most local hospitals are in charge of various other specialties.

A New Hospital Plan

The region has adopted a new hospital and mental health plan which entails investments in professional quality, continuing education, and new buildings. The Capital Region of Denmark works in accordance with international quality standards and is engaged in knowledge transfer with other countries.
