Research meetings and conferences

CAMES holds different kinds of research related meetings and participates actively in Danish and international conferences.

Research related meetings

  • Research meetings: All researchers from CAMES participate along with medical education researcher from other departments. Takes place approx. once a month - typically Tuesdays from 2:15-4 pm.  At the meetings researchers present internal research protocols and receive feedback. The group discusses relevant articles or subjects related to medical education. Researchers furthermore have the option of rehearsing their presentations before participation in conferences. Important trends from large conferences are also shared with the group.

  • Research progress meetings: These are more informal meetings for everyone at CAMES interested in research. Meetings are held approx. once a month with each meeting taking no longer than an hour. All participants give a short status on their projects and present their goals for the next months. The participants discuss possible barriers for progress and give advice on how to overcome them.

  • Counselling meetings/project meetings: Junior researchers/project managers attend these meetings with their senior counselors or counselor group. These are typically held multiple times during a project. The goals, organisation and economy of the project is established in the planning phase. Practical problems are managed in the data collection phase. In the analysis phase the gathered data is discussed before work on the scientific article begins.

Participation in Danish and international conferences

  • Oresund Symposium: CAMES is one of the main drivers behind this research oriented symposium which is held once annually (typically at the beginning of December). The symposium was held for the 12th time in 2015 in continuation of the International Conference on Surgical Education and Training (ICOSET).

  • Danish Society for Medical Education's (DMSU) yearly meeting: Several of CAMES's researcher are members of the board at DSMU and participate in the planning and execution of the yearly meeting. The meeting typically has an international key-note speaker, several scientific presentations, a panel debate about a current issue in medical education and 3 workshops.

  • Congreso Latinoamericano de Simulación Clínica: For the last 8 years CAMES has participated actively in the organisation of this congress. The purpose is to help build and support the active simulation scene in Latin America. Due to the cultural similarities the value and effect of this exchange is significant.

  • Scientific medical education conferences: CAMES participates actively with presentations and workshops at the yearly conferences held by Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE), Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM), Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) etc.

  • Scientific clinical conferences: CAMES' researchers also present their results and give presentations about medical education at traditional clinical conferences - for example conferences held by European Respiratory Society and American College of Surgeons.
