Family days

You are entitled to two days’ absence from work with your normal pay in each calendar year for each child until the calendar year in which your child reaches the age of 7.

Two family days each year for each child below the age of 7

As an employee of the region, you are entitled to two days’ absence from work with your normal pay for each child until and including the calendar year in which the child reaches the age of 7 to care for the child.

Equal rights to family days

Biological and adoptive parents as well as persons who have custody are entitled to family days. In order to have the right to family days, the child must live with you or you must have regular access to the child.

The right to family days applies regardless of when in a year you begin your employment with the region unless you have already taken the family days you are entitled to in other regional employment.

Give notice to your manager

You must as early as possible notify your manager when you wish to take your family days. Your manager should meet your request unless it is incompatible with your work. You can take family days as half or whole days.

Unused family days

You must use your family days before December 31. It is not possible to receive payment in lieu of family days, and generally, it is not possible to transfer unused family days to the next calendar year.

Family days during maternity leave etc transferred automatically

However, you can carry over unused family days from the calendar year in which the child is born/received to the next calendar year or if you have been barred from taking the family days because of leave (pregnancy, maternity, paternity or adoption leave). The family days will be carried over to the calendar year in which your leave ends.
