About Copenhagen Electric

We work for higher electric vehicle share on the roads and a greener fossil-fuel-free society.

About Copenhagen Electric

Copenhagen Electric is the central contact point for e-mobility in the Capital Region of Denmark. Copenhagen Electric gathers expertise from the business, science, and political communities as well as from the public administration. Copenhagen Electric gathers and coordinates players, finds new partners for regional, national and international projects, and promotes activities that support the deployment of electric vehicles and other green mobility solutions.

Copenhagen Electric is part of the Capital Region of Denmark's regional development strategy, which is based on an ambitious political vision to create a green and innovative metropolis with high quality of life; a vision focusing on efficient and sustainable mobility and green growth. Copenhagen Electric is being financed through funds from the Capital Region of Denmark as well as through national and international pools and projects.

An Advisory Board has been set up, which regularly advises Copenhagen Electric on strategic considerations as well as on operational actions. The Advisory Board consists of representatives from knowledge environments, municipalities, businesses and other stakeholders in the field of electric vehicles. The purpose is to enable interested stakeholders to advise on, and contribute to, the activities of Copenhagen Electric.
In addition to the regional development strategy, the Capital Region of Denmark and the municipalities in the region have prepared a joint climate-policy vision with specific targets for climate efforts in the capital region. The joint climate strategy has ambitious goals and requires innovative thinking, partnerships and large investments in the years to come.

The Capital region of Denmark is a leading electric vehicle region in Europe.
This vision is supported by two framework conditions important to work by Copenhagen Electric. These framework conditions are defined in the regional development strategy. Conditions for efficient and sustainable mobility and conditions for green growth.

Copenhagen Electric encourages conversion to electric vehicles in the capital region through knowledge-sharing and communication as well as by gathering together parties in the capital region to develop projects that increase the deployment of electric vehicles.
Climate-friendly transport holds great potentials for the capital region. This applies to overall climate efforts and to better quality of life for individuals. A goal in the regional development strategy is that noise and air pollution from the transport sector are to be reduced by 40% by 2025, and that the transport sector is to be free of fossil fuel by 2050. Noise and air pollution are to be reduced by ensuring better as well as more efficient and sustainable public transport, more car-share schemes, more carpooling, more cyclists and more electric vehicles. Electric vehicles help reduce noise and air pollution in the cities where many residents are plagued by nuisance from transport.
A significant focus in work by Copenhagen Electric within all areas is to strengthen the region's international competitive position and to ensure increased cooperation in Greater Copenhagen. Developing international cooperation has therefore been given high priority. Common to all focus areas is that they are addressed by launching and realising projects and development initiatives.

Political determination

The Capital Region of Denmark will show a good example in promoting green transport. The initiatives on green mobility include that all the Capital Region of Denmark's own light vehicles procured after 1 July 2014 must run on other energy sources than fossil fuels, e.g. electric vehicles.
The Capital Region of Denmark has established charging stations at all the region's hospitals. These enable patients, visitors and employees to charge their electric vehicles at the hospitals in the region. In addition to hospitals, charging stations have been established at the Capital Region of Denmark's central administration at Regionsgården in Hillerød, north of Copenhagen. Charging facilities for electric vehicles will be included from the start when building new parking facilities.
The Capital Region of Denmark's administration has introduced electric vehicle pooling schemes for employees when driving to and from meetings etc. during working hours.
