CCC2000's eye development studies are part of the mapping of normal eye development to identify the first signs of weakness and disease predisposition to better prevent eye disease.
The eye researchers in the CCC2000 are looking for characteristics of the eye that determine whether you become nearsighted or not. Of particular interest is the thickness of the choroid behind the retina, which varies greatly in thickness. Researchers hypothesize that a thick choroid protects against the development of myopia. This research could help develop better methods to prevent and treat myopia.
