Conference: Accelerated Circular Construction in Europe

Join us for an afternoon of professional and political dialogue bringing together leading researchers, EU policy makers, major european cities and regions, and key industry stakeholders.

An urgent climate, waste, and resource crisis

Europe is facing increasing pressure on resources, rising construction demands, and an urgent climate crisis that calls for immediate action. At the same time, the construction sector remains one of the largest producers of waste in Europe, a challenge that is directly linked to resource scarcity and rising emissions.

There are solutions, but we need to act

Circular construction offers a powerful path forward. By rethinking how we design, build, use, and reuse materials, we can significantly reduce waste, ease pressure on critical resources, and accelerate Europe's green transition. Achieving this requires ambitious, collective efforts across cities, regions, industry partners, and EU institutions.

Now European cities and regions are joining forces to accelerate circular construction in Europe. Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Paris, Vienna, and ICLEI have formulated and co‑signed a Call for Action to actively push circular construction higher on the EU policy agenda prior to the upcoming negotiations on the Circular Economy Act in 2026.

What to expect

The conference brings together key European actors to launch the joint Call for Action, signalling the urgency and importance of circular construction for Europe's green transition. Furthermore, leading voices in the public and private sectors explore how circularity can transform the construction sector and strengthen Europe's climate ambitions, resource resilience, and competitiveness.
