Your rights with respect to use of personal data

​We use information about citizens, users and patients at the Capital Region of Denmark’s hospitals, enterprises and centres, as part of our routine work on patient treatment, research, administration and other case processing. Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have a number of rights in connection with the data we use about you. This page has a summary of your rights. 

​What data does the Capital Region of Denmark have registered about you? (Right of access)

The right to access means that, among other things, you can ask to be informed about what data the Capital Region of Denmark’s hospitals, enterprises and centres has on record and why.

If you would like to know what data the Capital Region of Denmark has registered, much of it is available on Sundhed.dk and MinSP.

If your inquiry is about a specific treatment or procedure, we will send your request to the hospital, enterprise or centre where you were treated and they will contact you.

Can you can get errors in your data at the Capital Region of Denmark corrected? (Right to rectification)

If you discover that the Capital Region of Denmark has registered incorrect information about you, you can ask to have it rectified or corrected. 

Note that you do not have the right to have your health data changed. If you have objections about your health data, however, in exceptional cases you can make additions to your data. Additions require a specific medical assessment.

If you want to have information rectified, as a general rule you should contact the hospital, enterprise or centre at which you were treated.

Can you can get your data at the Capital Region of Denmark deleted? (Right to be forgotten)

There are a number of administrative and medical law regulations which oblige the Capital Region of Denmark to store data. A request to delete data will therefore only rarely be accepted.
