Summary of the video
The video is a short introduction to the many tasks the Capital Region has to manage.
In the Capital Region there are 1.8 million citizens. Hereby it is the biggest of the 5 regions in Denmark.
The biggest task the region manages is the healthcare area. With more than 12.000 hospital beds it is the largest health care system in Denmark. It is a health care system that we keep trying to improve.
Professor Kjeld
Schmiegelow from the Clinic for Children's and Youth diseases at
Rigshospitalet, describes how their goal is to raise the survival rate for children with leukemia from 40 to 80 %.
The Capital Region also has a lot to offer to citizens with a disability. They offer wheelchairs for people who can't walk and aids for people with hearing or visual disabilities. Everything in order to make the everyday as easy as possibly for the citizen in the Capital Region.
The Capital Region tries new methods to clean up pollution. Environment manager
Peder Johansen describes how they try out a new method where they use bacteria to clean up contaminated soil.
The Capital Region is trying to improve the public transport system. This is done by both improve on the existing systems like the S-train and the underground train system, but also build new systems like the new light rail system "Ring 3".
The Capital Region is
managed by 41 elected politicians. They are elected every fourth year.
A lot of the central administration is located in
Hillerød.
