Requirements for private contractors with regards to the employment of trainees

At the meeting of The Regional Council on 1 February 2011, it was agreed that, with tenders for larger construction projects, the Capital Region of Denmark will require that contractors should provide work placements. These should be designed so that there is a reasonable connection between the nature of the project, and the requirements to the contractors.

When does this apply?

There will be a specific assessment on whether work placements must be provided on a building or construction project based on the following criteria:

  • The project must have a duration of at least six months.
  • The payroll costs must be estimated to be at least DKK 4 mill. and/or the cost of the entire project should exceed DKK 10 mill.
  • The project should have a professional content that makes it relevant to employ trainees.
