Cleaning up after the sins of the past

(01:49 min.)

The video is about how the Capital Region of Denmark often uses new methods to clean up pollution and contamination. Environment officer Peter Johansen talks about one method using bacteria in contaminated soil to decompose the pollution.

This method is economically advantageous, environmentally friendly, entails very little noise nuisance, and only takes two months, while pump and treat can run for 70 years.

The Capital Region of Denmark is responsible for cleaning up old contamination and pollution. This is particularly important when people or groundwater may be at risk.

The Region is also responsible for registering contaminated areas. However, since remediation costs vast sums, it is necessary to prioritise.
