Summary of the video "Consulting the citizens"
The video is about how elected politicians in the Regional Council make their decisions in the region. And how these decisions are often taken after the public has been consulted.
For example, the former chair of the Regional Council, Sophie Hæstorp Andersen (Social Democrats), talks about how she invites the public to say more about what they want when a new hospital is to be built.
She also talks about open-house days at hospitals, and about the region’s Facebook and Twitter pages, which are visited by many citizens every day.
The regional headquarters are based in Hillerød, where much of the central administration is based and Regional Council meetings are held. 41 politicians sit on the Regional Council. They are elected every four years. The chair of the Regional Council heads the Council and the Region.
The former chair, Sophie Hæstorp Andersen (Social Democrats) says that the chair makes sure that political decisions are made, e.g. on new hospitals or to allocate more money to the mental health services.
The former chair is also the Region's face outwards when the region collaborates with others. Citizens can ask for appointments to meet the chair and join meetings.
Everyone is welcome to attend meetings of the Regional Council in Hillerød, or watch them on the internet. The meetings are transmitted live on the Region's website and they are shown on TV2 Kosmopol.
