The Regional Development Strategy sets the framework
Resource efficiency is an initiative within the Regional Development Strategy of the Capital Region of Denmark. Targeted investments in this area will contribute to reaching the Capital Region's goal of being resource efficient, with at least 80% of its waste being recycled by 2035.
The strategy has been followed up by an action plan to ensure broad regional cooperation in realising the strategy in the coming years.

Partnerships for circular economy
The flagship project "Resource efficiency and circular economy" is developed and implemented in cooperation with various stakeholders. In 2017, the Capital Region carried out a process to establish partnerships and develop common initiatives.
Building on this process, two specific projects are initiated in 2018:
- Partnership for circular municipalities: The purpose of the project is to develop and test different ways for the public sector to catalyse the transition to circular economy. This will be done through five demonstration cases.
- Waste and resources across borders: A project aimed at gathering the stakeholders of the waste sector – across municipal borders – around a common roadmap for developing the sector towards circular economy and a circular resource market.
