The Mineral and Raw Material Resources Plan for the Capital Region of Denmark
The region is responsible for mapping mineral and raw material resource deposits. The Mineral and Raw Material Resources Plan is based on this survey. The Mineral and Raw Material Resources Plan must include a 12-year plan for the extraction and supply of mineral and raw material resources to the building and construction industry.
With the Mineral and Raw Material Resources Plan, the region establishes the general guidelines for mineral and raw material resource extraction in the period covered by the plan. The plan also designates extraction areas and areas of interest within which application can be made to the municipality for a licence to extract mineral and raw material resources. The plan can be revised every four years.
Extraction permits and plans for the post-treatment of quarries
According to the Mineral Resources Act, the Regions are the relevant authority in connection with the issue of permits to extract mineral resources, and for the approval of plans for post-treatment of quarries.
Licences to extract mineral and raw material resources can, in principle, only be issued for areas situated within the extraction areas. The region, however, has to consider many land interests in connection with licence issue. Extraction of mineral and raw material resources outside the extraction areas may be permitted, if the region judges that there are special conditions in favour of the application.
