Dialogue with National Foundations
Through our ongoing engagement with national foundations, the Strategic Research Support and Outreach team contribute to shaping funding strategies and influencing thematic priorities. This enables us to advocate for the inclusion of research areas relevant to the Capital Region of Denmark. Our insights also help researchers tailor their applications to align with each foundation’s strategic focus.
For large-scale project ideas, we can help arrange meetings between researchers and the most relevant foundations. A member of our team often participates in these meetings to provide follow-up support and ensure the application is well-positioned for success.
EU
In addition to national foundations, we collaborate closely with:
- Greater Copenhagen EU Office, representing the interests of the Capital Region of Denmark in Brussels
- EuroCenter under the Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education, the national contact point for Horizon 2020 in Denmark.
Together, we provide feedback on upcoming EU calls and work programmes to ensure they reflect the research priorities of the Capital Region of Denmark. This strategic input helps shape funding opportunities that align with local strengths and ambitions.

Health Challenges Reference Group
The Capital Region of Denmark holds a seat in the Ministry of Education and Research (UFM)'s professional reference group for the health challenge under Horizon Europe. This group supports the Danish programme committee member for health by providing insights into national research strengths and priorities, helping shape Denmark's position in the EU health work programme.
All EU member states and the European Commission are represented in the Programme Committee for Health, which plays a formal role in adopting the work programme.
Currently, the Capital Region of Denmark's role in the Health Reference Group is carried out by Professor Andreas Kjær (Rigshospitalet), supported by the Strategic Research Support and Outreach team. The team gathers input from the Capital Region of Denmark's Background Group for the Horizon Health Challenge.
To join the Background Group, please contact the Strategic Research Support and Outreach team at forskningsstoette@regionh.dk.
Responsibilities of the Reference Group:
- Provide expert input for the EU work programmes
- Share relevant materials and updates with research environments in the Capital Region of Denmark
- Represent the Capital Region of Denmark’s interests in discussions with the Ministry and other stakeholders
- Contribute to forming a unified Danish position on a given issue.

Forsk2025
The national FORSK2025 catalogue, along with the national research strategy and health sector recommendations, serves as a key reference for many national funding agencies when allocating research and innovation funding.
The Capital Region of Denmark has actively contributed to FORSK2025 by highlighting relevant priorities in the health sector. Most public funding agencies align their strategies with the recommendations outlined in this catalogue.
