The new Committees Act entered into force on 1 January 2012. Amendments to the Act include changes to the composition of the chairmanship such that the chairman of a committee must be a health professional committee member whilst the vice-chairman must be a non-health professional committee member.

The number of committee members is unchanged. Each committee comprises six non-health professional and five health professional members.
