The flu vaccine season starts today

The flu vaccine season starts today with vaccination stations opening in every municipality in the Capital Region of Denmark. From 1 October, the Capital Region of Denmark's vaccination stations will be offering vaccination against influenza and Covid-19 to citizens over the age of 64 and other vulnerable citizens.

Wait...

We are entering a season when flu and Covid-19 cases are expected to surge. Most people experience mild illness, but for some, influenza and Covid-19 can cause severe illness. Therefore, also this year, selected groups of the population are being offered vaccination against influenza and Covid-19.

Invitations for vaccination have been sent to older citizens over the past three weeks, and the vaccination stations are now open and ready to receive the first citizens who have opted to get the vaccinations.

Many citizens have already booked their vaccination appointment via vacciner.dk, and there are still plenty of vacant appointments in the coming weeks and throughout the season, so everyone in the target group can get vaccinated. Citizens have plenty of opportunity to find a vaccination station with a location and opening hours suited to their schedule and needs.

Regional Council Chairman Lars Gaardhøj has been following as hospitals and health centres get ready for the flu vaccination season and he is looking forward to welcoming the Region's citizens.

"We're happy to once more be able to offer our elderly and vulnerable citizens protection against both flu and Covid-19. Setting up a vaccination station has become an annual event for many of the Region's hospitals. I know that our staff are looking forward to welcoming citizens and helping make the vaccination a good experience. At regional level, this year we've contracted with Danish General Practitioners Vaccination Service (DLVS), which also has extensive experience with vaccinations," says Regional Council Chairman Lars Gaardhøj (Social Democratic Party).

The Capital Region of Denmark offers vaccination at nine of the Region's own sites, while DLVS - winner of this year's national contract, will help make sure it is easy to get vaccinated throughout the flu season by offering almost 100 different vaccination stations. Private provider Carelink will help with vaccinations at nursing homes and in the private homes of immobile citizens, as well as at residential care facilities.
