Background: I am a registered nurse and I also have a Master's degree in health science (cand.scient.san).
Research interest: I have a special interest in the communication between patients and health care professionals and especially vulnerable and ethnic minorities' contact with the Danish healthcare system.
PhD project: There is a story behind every 1813 call (medical helpline) - pain, injury, relatives, uncertainty and doubt. Through my project, I listen to the voices behind 1813 to understand how citizens navigate the options for treatment when their needs are acute but not life-threatening. In my PhD, I look at the interaction between citizens/patients and healthcare professionals. 1813 acts as a “gatekeeper” for citizens and the healthcare system. By examining the access and encounter with the system, we can understand how both citizens/patients and healthcare professionals understand “acute/urgency”, how they interact, how it is translated and how it is handled. The PhD project is funded by UCSF. I am enrolled in the graduate programme: ‘Medicine, Culture and Society’ at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
Methodological competences: I have primarily worked quantitatively and in my PhD project I work with qualitative methods.
Collaborators: Emergency Medical Services, Capital Region of Denmark, Hvidovre Hospital and Bispebjerg Hospital.
Supervisorteam: Anette Lykke Hindhede, Tom Møller, Fredrik Folke og Ove Andersen.
