EXHALE started as a research project and finished with a randomized controlled experiment in 2009. The research project showed that the training program EXHALE reduces anxiety and depression, as well as increasing muscle mass in patients with inoperable lung cancer in chemotherapy. Ever since 2016 EXHALE has been implemented as a permanent training offer at Rigshospitalet.
More than 400 patients with inoperable lung cancer have participated in the training option EXHALE, which consists of fitness, strength and relaxation exercises. It takes place four hours a week over the course of twelve weeks and entails groups with up to 20-25 participants. In order to participate in EXHALE, you must be at least 18 years old, and you must be receiving chemotherapy or immunotherapy for inoperable lung cancer at Rigshospitalet. The training takes place in premises at Ryesgade 27, the yellow house in the back, 2200 Copenhagen N.
