Every year the Nordic Capital Regions host a joint partner event for the EU Green Week. This year's event will bring together Nordic regional voices to share key insights into the challenges and opportunities of adopting circular construction practices.

The construction sector has a significant impact on the climate and environment due to its high consumption of finite resources and substantial greenhouse gas emissions. An estimated 20-25% of the life cycle emissions of the existing building stock in the EU are embedded in the construction materials.

Taking a circular approach can help reduce emissions and construction waste - through strategies such as like public procurement and material reuse - while lowering demand for raw materials and building a more resilient construction sector.
