Who is CAMES

CAMES ​gathers the Capital Region of Denmark's  research, development and educational activities in the field of medical and surgical simulation.​

Purpose

​Copenhagen Academy for Medical​ Education and Simulation ​(CAMES) consists of research, development and educational sections for medical education and simulation based training. We offer courses to both healthcare perso​nnel and other professionals with the purpose of increasing the quality and safety in patient treatment and care.

​Core ​​functions and services​

  • Using simulation as a research method for analysing ​human or organisational factors.
  • Development and implementation of educational programmes for individuals, multi-professional teams and departments in the health care sector in relation to basic and specialist training.
  • Development and implementation of educational programmes for facilitators/instructors - both nationally and internationally.
  • Using complex development and educational concepts, i.e.. simulation based training backed by research, development and partnerships.
  • Counselling and consulting regarding medical education and simulations for decision-makers, institutions, departments and individuals working with educational development and simulation.

  • Research in learning and education, i.e.. implementation of  theories about medical pedagogy and learning.

Organisation
CAMES is organised under the Capital Region of Denmark's Centre for Human Resources. Doris Øster​gaard, professor in medical education, is the head of the entire CAMES academy. Anne-Mette Mørcke is head of the CAMES Rigshospitalet section , and Anne Lippert, Specialist in Anesthesiology, is head of the CAMES Herlev section

Two sections, two addresses

CAMES resides at two sections - one at Herlev Hospital, the other at Rigshospitalet. ​CAMES' staff consists of 2 professors, 20 Ph.D.-students, around 60 staff members  and over 100​ teachers of which the majority additionally has a clinical position.
Overview of our staff

CEKU and DIMS became CAMES in 2015

CAMES is a fusion of Danish Institute for Medical Simulation (DIMS) and Centre for Clinical Education (CEKU).​ The demand for CEKU and DIMS' services and facilities was increasing so the obvious solution was to combine them into one academy. The intention behind the academy is to contribute to education, research and development on the highest international level now and in the future.
